What impact do documentary films actually have?

As the audience for social issue documentary films grows, the intersection between a film and its impact is of increasing concern to media funders, media organizations, and filmmakers themselves. There is general agreement that documentary films are an important source of information and opinion in our corporate-dominated media landscape and that they often provide the in-depth analysis of complex issues lacking in most mainstream media . Most Ghanaian lack education but love TV and radio , if an issue comes up they will be listing 100% . This is the only way to reach the Ghanaian Public to have an impact and educate them through Documentary's.

Accra and its environs have been without water for almost one week now following the breakdown of the Weija treatment plant.
Despite assurances by the Water Company that supply of water will resume on Thursday, the taps still run dry.
This has resulted in residents walking long distances in search of water every morning.

For many months now,Tema has had no supply of water. Several attempts at finding out from GWCL what the problem is, has proved futile.

While the flashy parts of the same East Legon, enjoys regular water supply, we the residents of the ‘not flashy’ parts have seen no drop of water from our taps for many months. This has brought untold hardships and seriously comprising our health. I took this picture of 2 Korean woman struggling to fix there water pipe which flows uncontrollably.
